The file 'Rocketeer Jetpack – Modified 3D Printer Model' is (stl) file type, size is 171.7MB.

Summary

Mod 3/19: After printing the center full scale I modified the center vent a bit to be tallest in the middle and then taper down to the sides a bit better. Still looked good either way, just nit picking now.

After printing dorkle's Rocketeer Jetpack I got to work making modifications to the files.

Mods:

  1. The main center vent has been thickened so its stronger, the original broke almost immediately. I have included both the whole center piece with the modified vent and a split version.

  2. The middle rocket housing and thruster has been modified to slide together with a connector for superior gluing surface and strength.

  3. I made a connector piece to go in between the middle and top rocket housing for superior gluing surface, alignment and strength. Unlike the middle to bottom connector which I added permanently into the middle piece, I did this connector separate so the top and middle piece could be printed with less supports.

  4. I modified the bottom flaps to sit flat on the build plate

  5. Instead of using a fan support bracket I made a fan housing. First glue the fan into the housing and then glue the housing behind the center vent. This prevents you from seeing that the inside is hollow and hide any added supports you my put in (I added 2x4's inside mine to give the pack extra weight to feel a little more realistic and i screwed the rocket housing to the 2x4's through the center cowling to give it more robust support for cosplay.

  6. I resized the housing vents to fit better, also with the thruster mod I did you can now put the vents in before attaching the thruster. (before you could not, it wouldn't fit.)

  7. I oriented all the files for the best printing orientation and included separate files for all the right and left parts.

I have printed all these mods at a smaller scale to insure they all work and will be printing a larger scale soon.

Dorkle's model is still awesome and I was very happy with it despite the few flaws. It is pictured above.
