This is a box to add a mount with a spacer to connect a micro USB cable to the back of the ring doorbell. I designed for the Ring Doorbell 1st Gen. I believe it will work with 2nd Gen but I haven't tested it.
Somethings I remixed are: I moved the USB hole to the bottom and back of the box. I was thinking this will help with the risk of water getting in the box, dust, any bugs or reducing the need for silicon. I made the box exact size and straighten it out inside. I added threaded screw mounts inside the box so you can use your existing ring screws to mount the plate to the box. I also equally offset four screw holes so if you have existing screw holes on your wall you can use these holes without drilling new holes. If you need more ring screws you can find the "Ring Spare Parts Kit for Video Doorbell (1st Gen)" on Amazon to get four more screws. I just used some extra screws I had in the garage.
To install you will need to mount your solar panel. I'm using the StartVision solar panel. You will need to remove your Ring Doorbell (if mounted already). Run the solar panel wire in the box and mount it on the wall. Drill a hole in your Ring doorbell mount where the micro USB cable is. I used a 3/8" drill and round file but you could probably get away with just a 3/8" drill. Next wind up the excess cable in the box, run the USB cable through the hole, screw the mount on, add the weatherproof boot and plug the micro USB into your Ring doorbell. Latch the ring doorbell on and install the security screws. Your ring app should show the ring doorbell as hardwired.
