This model may have been included as an alternate in some boxes, although one source on the internet claims that this model was never put into production. If that were the case, however, I'm not sure how I could have gotten hold of one. My own theory is that the first boxes in production contained this version, until someone pointed out that illusionists can't use flails, because AD&D. So the artist or mold-maker made a quick edit to the model, turning the flail into a regular staff.
