I wanted to fix was the alignment and slop in the steering linkage (Power Wheels Jeep Wrangler but I believe these parts r usable by a number of models).
So here is what I did/created. If anyone is interested.
Option 1: a 3D printable direct replacement steering knuckle (see yellow knuckle in pics). Size and fit wise this is the same as factory part.
Option 2: A 3D printable replacement with 3/4 aluminum flat stock reinforcements, 1/4 I.D. Flanged bearings for connecting to steering rod, and a 3D printable jig/template for perfectly marking the 3/4 alum holes for drilling (I used a 1/4 transfer punch to mark them). These versions are the white printed knuckles in the photos.
(FYI - I left the 3/4 alum flat bars long sticking out past the knuckle for now as I’m using an actuator for remote steering and planning on potentially connecting the actuator to the long ends. But 3/4 alumn can easily be cut to the length of the knuckles so it doesn’t stick out).
