Summary

This is a quick remix of Sneaks cool looking Metric screw measuring tool (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4056498). The only difference is that this is designed to use nuts which can be heat set into the tool, instead of inserts. Otherwise it is identical.

I printed and tested this, seems to work well with the nuts.

To heat set these, I screwed the nuts on the end a long bolt, and then used a jet butane lighter to heat them up, before seating them. This method has worked well in the past and is simpler (for me) than using a soldering iron, but as always use caution since it is easy to burn things or yourself. I held the parts with pliers to give some distance between my fingers and the torch.

Update 12/28/2021 (2) - Thanks to the suggestion (and helpful explanation) by Justin, I added a 2nd version which uses several small partial bridges in the pockets, which are only 0.2mm thick and intended to help with printing this without supports.

The model which can be printed without supports is named “screw-tool-remix-1E-NOSUPPORTS.stl”.

If you find these models useful, please post a like or a comment with some pics of your prints.

I regularly update my current projects and other things I'm working on at my blog.
And if you like some of the stuff I design, you can follow me here or on Printables, to see what new stuff I post.

Thanks for looking!
