Summary

DO NOT RIDE WITH A PLASTIC STEM

This stem is inspired by the Raised Reversed Stem by Be More Bikes. My idea was to make a version which is shorter and with less offset. The clamp part is offset as well as the plates which hold the bars, both by the same amount. This allows you to offset the bars forward or back, or flip them oppose each others offset and place them directly over the handlebars. This is a work in progress project and I have not ridden this design, but if others need inspiration here you go. I have also designed this so that the entire assembly can be made from easy to buy aluminum stock from McMaster Carr or Amazon. 2"x2" bar and 1/2" plate stock is all that is needed. This is only my second iteration and I think it could be made taller or possibly with more holes on the side plates to change height, also possibly more offset front to back.

I encourage people to remix this or use it to come up with their own design. I think the RR stem is a great idea but too big of a jump for mtb culture, whereas with shorter stems still placing the bar above the fork I think people might be eased into it. Also 400 bucks is a lot but 50 bucks in material plus some hours of my time machining can make 3 of these little guys out of 6061. Not worth producing to sell but totally worth it for a fun project.
