Queendomino is another nice game that suffers from the genetic defect of lots of pieces (coins, meeples, etc.) and no tidy way to store them. Bag them, chuck them in a plastic well and hope for the best. Le sigh. Ah well, this is why we have 3D printers, after all.

Poking around these hallowed halls I couldn't find precisely what I was looking for, but I've taken inspiration from 3E8s nice trays for Queendomino. These aren't strictly remixes since I built them from the ground up, but he had a few good ideas. I had specific needs... oh, I always have specific needs. Such is my lot.

There wasn't a need to rebuild the entire box insert (which was my first, knee-jerk reaction), but instead amend it with a couple of trays. These are made to fit the slightly larger of the two wells (in the corner), and stack one atop the other. The size of the pieces coupled with the limited depth of the well means the bottoms are a little thinner than I'd like (1mm), but they are still really sturdy and fit with no room to spare vertically - the scorepad rests right on top... and actually, this is a good thing as it helps keeps everything in place.

The top tray (pieces, meeples, tiny knights) is inset on the bottom and marginally wider to nest over the outer and inner edges of the coin tray to keep the coins from slipping out their wells - it is keyed, there is a right and a wrong direction. The little knights are in a compartment with two rounded bottom edges for ease of fishing them out, and a lid to keep the little buggers where they belong.

The coin tray is... well, a coin tray. Not much to say about it. It has a little handle. Fancy!

These pass my test for storage, which simply involves packing the box then giving it a good shake while turning it in all directions. Everything stayed in place (a couple of the little castles toppled, but they stayed in the compartment they were put.
