I have an art class that does punch loop embroidery and the needles can be pricey. If you look on Amazon each one starts at $6 so a class set can be quite a lot.
I created a simple stylist and jig to make my own. You only need one thing. a 60mm section of brass tubing. The tubing should be 5mm OD with a wall thickness of 0.5mm. I'll link it from Amazon.

The jig has 2 holes for the brass tube. One is for drilling the hole near the tip. The other is angled at 20 degrees for the needle. You can use a piece of sandpaper or a belt sander for the angle but just be careful with the heat generated.
