This is a mount for using a PTFE tube quick adapter (PC4-M6 fitting: thread M6/3mm) on the stock Ender 3 V2 (and others?). See here for example.
There are two versions, one with a Zscrew guard, and one without. Because of the notoriously tight tolerance between the extruder inlet and the Zscrew, the filament does contact the guard, but not enough to cause friction. It doesn't need the guard, but it satisfies the irrational part of my brain.
This is for the stock extruder
I'll update my pics to actually using the PTFE tube when I get my drybox setup
