The file 'Prusa I3 X-Carriage For GT2 Belt 3D Printer Model' is (stl, step, tcw) file type, size is 4.6MB.
There are a lot of very good X-Carriages out there with a lot of good features that I like but none of them got all of those on one X-Carriage.
I wanted a good hassle free and easy to use belt holder that is also small and compact such as the one from this carriage. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:840907
I wanted a big flat face that can take all different configurations of print heads. Single, dual, direct and bowden as I want to start experimenting with them. For that I also needed mounting holes that could accept fittings from 22mm up to 30 mm
The next requirement was a very sturdy but still compact bearing holder design that was capable to hold 4 LM8UU bearings as I might have some heavy payloads on it at some times.
Lastly I wanted a cable carrier support for my wiring as I want to install a semi permanent cable set on the printer that will be terminated at the carriage to enable plug and play print head replacement.
So I decided to draw up my own carriage that conform to my set of requirements.
What I still need to do is integrate an adjustable home sensor trigger for an Opto sensor as I have designed my new X Motor End with an integrated mount for the Opto sensor. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:922783
I can only do this when I have both the new carriage and motor end printed and installed on the printer so that I can get a good sense of what is needed,
So here it is, please comment if you can think of further enhancements for it.
Enjoy!
