The file 'Prusa Bear Y Axis Rod Holders 3D Printer Model' is (stl,f3d) file type, size is 307.1KB.
This is a remix of Grégoire Saunier's original Y axis rod holders for the Prusa Bear upgrade. Although using zip ties to secure the smooth rods is very much with keeping with the reprap look, I personally felt it distracted from the beauty of the Bear kit. With this in mind I remixed the rod holder to include a lid to secure the rod, thus removing the need for a zip tie.
The lower component maintains the same footprint of the original thus allowing the original installation position to be maintained as specified in the Bear manual.
Installation:
To install, fit lower part to frame as per Bear manual and install smooth rods. Once rods fitted in place, align the upper component dovetail profile with the matching profile on the lower component and then slide the upper component towards the rods until fully seated.
Printed parts:
You will require four of each part
Hardware:
As per Gregoire's original design you will need M5x12 mm button head bolts and 5mm T nuts (8 of each in total)
Please note this is still in beta so may require changes. Please report any identified issue here and I will address them ASAP.
Edit:06 May 2019
Added clearance to dovetail joint and added chamfer to leading edge for ease of fitment.
Edit:05/May/2019.
Changed design to remove requirement for additional hardware. Upper section now secured using a dovetail design. (Credit to Craig Mullaney for the idea).
