This is a proper Makita battery adapter for Ryobi tools. It can be installed/used:

  1. Removable. Using side latches. Useful, if you own Ryobi batteries/chargers.
  2. Semi-permanent. Using screws to fix adapter to tool. Useful, if you don't own Ryobi batteries/chargers.
  3. Permanent. Using screws and soldering contacts directly. Useful, if you want a quick way to convert Ryobi tools to Makita.

This adapter uses geniune Makita terminals pad (such as 643852 or 643838). If you don't have it - either purchase it, or print/make it yourself - see https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:863257

Please, carefully read assembly and usage guide below.

Source files are provided, so you can change design if you are using different size for pins/springs. Or you can just use drill to enlarge holes.

You will need:

  1. [2 pieces] Thin metal pin/thick needle:
    • Thick needle
    • Finishing pin/nail
    • Syringe needle
    • Unwrapped paper-clip (use wire stripper to remove silicone cover)
  2. [Optional, for temporary installation only] [2 pieces] 5.55x17.46 mm compression spring or similar size:
    • Use Amazon / AliExpress to purchase "spring assortment kit".
    • You can also get springs from battery contacts/terminals in your old tech or local store.
    • Alternatively, you can use springy foam or something similar.
  3. [Optional, for temporary and semi-permanent installation] [2 pieces] Two metal strips with approximate size 9x20 mm:
    • You can cut strips from flat metal sheet / fixture from your local hardware storage.
    • Nickel-plated strips for welding 18650 is also an option.
  4. Thick wires.
  5. Soldering iron and supplies.
  6. Small self-taping screws, or normal screws + tap.
  7. Hot glue.
  8. Instant glue (cyanoacrylate / super glue).
