This is an experimental portioning funnel. For pancake, biscuit, or meringue batter. The idea being that each time the piston is raised and lowered it will "pump out" a precise, repeatable, quantity. Exactly what that quantity is in this model I don't know for sure.
While printing the first prototype in ABS my feed tube detached from the extruder and I came back to find the entire case of the printer filled with filament. When I canceled the print the head went home and got snagged in the mess rattling the steppers into speaking wookie.
The piston is keyed so that it can be taken out for cleaning but won't allow the funnel to be stuck open or fall out during use once turned. So goes the theory in any case.
If anyone wants to take a wack at printing this I'd appreciate if you posted pictures of the pancakes, cookies, or other batter based treat that you made and the approximate amount each pump of the piston puts out. My goal is something about one inch diameter to "silver dollar" pancake size.
