Our Jayco caravan uses these to "butt mount" panels to others at right angles. They are essentially plastic slugs that implement a quick-and-dirty pocket screw.
The inset hole for the slug is drilled in the wood using a 26mm (or 27mm?) Forstner bit, to a depth of 7-8mm. (I used a CNC router so not entirely sure the drill bit size. I measured an existing, worn hole at 26.7mm)
