Summary

*Update August 30, 2017 - I've made a small revision to the RingGear (RingGearRev2 taking it's place). I thought bearing slop was causing my spinner to jam every now and then but started to wonder if my circle while designing the ring gear came off plane and sure enough the gearing circle was slightly oblong (.14mm at max difference). So I've fixed this issue however I'm sure bearing slop is still at play. Next update will include fastener support! As the compression style fittings don't seem to hold up over time and they allow some play.

A planetary gear set made into a functioning planetary gear set fidget spinner!! This design uses five 608 bearings. Spin time and functionality will vary depending on the quality of 608 bearings used. For my build, I used 608ZZ bearings that were fairly cheap so there is a bit of play which at times causes the gears to misalign slowing down/stopping the spin. However even with cheaper bearings I average 10-15 seconds spin time. Even if spin time isn't long, it's a fun way to see how a planetary gear set works in the form of a fidget spinner!!

One fun thing to notice is how the outer ring gear will do four revolutions per one of every planetary carrier revolution.

Assembly instruction are included in the images. Any file with a letter X then a number at the end is stating how many of the file to print. Such as PinsX3.stl the X3 means print 3. Some fittings might be really tight as I found any smaller parts caused jamming issues with spin time (wobble and misalignment issues). For instance, the male ends that go into the 608 bearings are 8.6mm in diameter some 608 bearings might have a smaller opening but that wasn't the case for the ones I have. Light sanding might be need depending on different manufactured 608 bearings.

Oh, and apologies for the watermarks on the images but I'd rather not see my renderings used for commercial gain.
