My 5y/o wanted a hook for his Haloween costume. I wanted something durable that was comfortable enough for him to hold for a while (I don't want to get stuck carrying it). I designed this with the hook getting thicker as it goes for strength and a hex-shaped grip for comfort. He's been walking around with it constantly for 2 weeks, picking things up, swinging off things... and it's no worse for wear.
I went through 3 versions of the cup, all are published if people want different sizes. The small one was comfortable for him but didn't completely cover his hand. The large one didn't look realistic and is big enough for a small adult hand. The middle one is only slightly bigger around than the small one but much deeper, it hides his hand completely and almost looks plausible as covering a stump.
The cup sizes (length of the grip inside/ID of the cup): 70mm, 75mm, 85mm
The hook looks good on all of them and they all use the same socket for it so it's interchangeable. It would even look good on a full-size adult (if someone is interested I can design a bigger cup for one).
