Summary

I love the original design of this camera, and all of the remixes people have done. I decided to put them all together (plus a few of my own) to make this as a gift for a friend who is really into photography. I'm not much of a photographer myself, but I'll post some of my test photos as soon as I get them developed.

Remixes from original design

  • Knurled knobs (made them a little shorter and thicker)
  • Shutter (combined a few variations into one with a space for your finger and holes for 4mm x 2mm magnets)
  • Takeup spool (redesigned to be more like a real camera takeup spool)

My changes from original design

  • Replaced the bolts with an "easy-open" design (retainer clips pivot open/closed for quicker film changes)
  • Tripod nut (added a space in the bottom of the camera for a 1/4-20 nut, with a plug that holds it in place)
  • Knob clips (added a small slot at one end for easier removal)
  • Takeup spool (added a ratcheting mechanism so it will be less likely to unwind on its own)
  • Added screw holes in the case for the shutter

Printing

  • Printed everything with PETG at .250 layer height on a Tevo Black Widow
  • Case front/back and takeup spool printed with 20% rectilinear infill
  • All other pieces printed solid (999 bottom layers or 100% infill)
  • Supports only needed for the takeup spool and case retainers
  • Change filament at layer 6 and 10 for the knobs if you want the arrows to be a different color to stand out

Notes

Filed any rough edges smooth, especially inside holes and the shutter pieces so everything fits together nicely and slides smoothly.

Put some self-stick felt covering the inside of the back plate, and inside the camera where the film would move across to prevent scratches. If you want to do this, print the back_with_felt.stl, as it's a little shorter, otherwise just print the back.stl
