Summary

Bracket to mount a cooling fan over flipper coils on a professional pinball machine. Used to keep flipper coils cool so they perform at the same level for a prolonged period. As coils heat up the flipper force can vary making it very difficult to consistently hit some shots on modern pinball machines.

Designed to be universal, but not tried on all pinball machine types yet.

There are 2 designs which are an identical mirror image of each other (handed A and B). A mix of each type is likely to be required depending on the pinball machine layout.

Printed with 0.2mm nozzle and no supports.

Requires

  • 2 M4 Nylon locking nuts
  • 2 M4 x 30mm Bolts
  • 1 Sunon Axial Fan, 12V dc, 40mm x 40mm x 20mm (MF40201VX-1000U-A99)*
  • Source a 12V DC power supply and wiring to power the fans

*Most 40mm x 40mm x 20mm 12V dc fans will do the job. Needs to be 20mm, unlikely to get enough air flow with 10mm. This one has been tested and is very good.

Method

  • Superglue 2 M4 Nylon locking nuts into body of bracket (ease Nylon locking nuts by running bolt through each nut a few times before gluing to bracket).
  • May still be necessary to still use a spanner when mounting fans to bracket.
  • Mount fans to brackets first.
  • Mount bracket and fan to pinball machine flipper assembly using exiting mounting screws.
