The file 'Piggy Bank 3D Printer Model' is (blend, stl) file type, size is 373.1KB.
This piggy is a bank that sort of defeats the purpose of savings. It's way too easy to get into so I can easily make change. It will hold our plastic printing funds from students who are making things outside of class projects. The top is a really big lid. The base is a bowl.
Notes:
1 - The base insert could be made at least 3 cm taller if you'd like a deeper bowl to hold coins.
2 - I had some problems with the STL but I can't figure out how to rectify it. This piggy was made using Blender and it's the first print from Blender that we've done. I think I fixed all of the normals and that the mesh is manifold, however NetFab is telling me that I'm wrong. Unfortunately when we upload the PiggyBase.stl to netfabb it eliminates the insert walls of the "bowl". Apparently I still have some learning to do. However I got it to print so I'm moving on to other things... like summer vaycaytion!!!
I created our prints from slicing our STL with Makerware 2.1.x. Makerware 2.2.x would not work for us because apparently our model is not manifold.
I've attached the .blend files if anyone wishes to give it a go. I didn't use a subsurface mesh because it rounded out the flat parts. Also the .blend file is 10% of the size of the .stl file. The translation of mm in Blender to mm on Makerbot is not 1:1 and I had to scale them on Makerbot to print them.
