Summary

Updated with version 2. I replaced the big eyelet with a small loop and added a couple of color layers on the backside so it looks nice too. So there are two more filament changes with version 2.

2019 is the Year of the Pig. In celebration of the Chinese or Lunar New Year, which begins Feb 5 this year, I have created these pig earrings. These were printed in PLA using 3 different colors, black, white and flesh. I think pink would be better than flesh, but I didn't have any when I made these. This pig earrings were printed in PLA at 200C and the printbed heated to 65C.

I have several designs. Click here to view my Earring Collection. I will be uploading more in the near future. Follow me to be notified on your dashboard when I upload new ones.

If you download or collect this model, please “like” it. Thank you.

For Version 1

They were made with a Go Big 3D Genesis 8 printer that currently has only one extruder, even though they can handle two extruders. I did the color changes by putting a M600 "Filament Change" command into the Gcode at layers 3 and 6, using a 0.2mm layer height.

The "M600" gcode was inserted on a new line before layers 3 and 6 if you are using 0.2mm layer height. If editing your gcode file by hand, search for text "; layer " and insert "M600" at the above indicated layers. If you are using Simplify3D, you can enter the following code in the "Additional terminal commands for post processing" box on the "Scripts" tab of your Process file.

{STRIP "; postProcessing,"}
{REPLACE "; layer 3," "M600nG92 E0n; layer 3,"}
{REPLACE "; layer 6," "M600nG92 E0n; layer 6,"}

Layer colors

1-2 black
3-5 white
6+ flesh

For Version 2

{STRIP "; postProcessing,"}
{REPLACE "; layer 3," "M600nG92 E0n; layer 3,"}
{REPLACE "; layer 5," "M600nG92 E0n; layer 5,"}
{REPLACE "; layer 7," "M600nG92 E0n; layer 7,"}
{REPLACE "; layer 9," "M600nG92 E0n; layer 9,"}

Layer colors

1-2 Pink
3-4 White
5-6 Black
7-8 White
9+ Pink

To make earrings, you might want to get a jewelry making kit like this one is a very good deal.

Jewelry Making Kit:

You can also buy in bulk sterling silver blank fish hook wire earrings like these.

It is very easy to make your own if you have an earring wire bender like this one.

I use this 20 gauge sterling silver jewelry wire to make your own.

You will want to get some nylon jawed pliers so you don't scratch or flatten your jewelry wire.
