I work in a cube farm, and the cube walls are fabric. There's something behind the fabric which sorta holds a thumbtack, but it doesn't hold it well. I've got several paintings and pictures up on my cube wall, and every now and they have to rig it up with thumbtacks and hope it stays. Finally I decided to come up with something a bit more secure.

These small pieces have a cutout through which you can pass pieces of most small to medium sized paperclips, which you can then push into the fabric at an angle and create a nice, secure connection to the wall. I've found that the best results are when the paperclip is angled down into the fabric, and the single-sided pieces have holes on the top and bottom so they can be flipped over and used on both the top and bottom of paintings.

If you cut a paper clip along the two long edges, you can create three uneven U-shaped clips which will pass through these parts and go into the wall. That means one paper clip can hang three holders.

Single sided holders print bottom up, the double sided holders print laying on their side.

What seems to work best for me is to hold the holder in place with the paperclip inserted but not sticking out the back yet, and then use a small pair of pliers to push the paperclip through the hole so it sticks into the fabric.
