This is a Christmas ornament designed to accept either 1 or 2 photos printed using an HP Sprocket mini printer. I'm currently using HP's ZInk photo paper, which claims to be 2"x3" but I've found to be sized slightly under that (closer to 1.9"x2.8" on average across two packs). I've gone back and forth with the fitment and this is the happy medium I've settled on.
Photos are inserted from the top of the ornament (where the hanger hole is placed) and two can be used for a front/back design. Adding a hanger or string then closes the opening securing the photos.
I've taken to printing this in matte white PLA and using alcohol markers to color as I do not yet have an AMS unit, but the details are extruded to different heights so you could theoretically use an AMS or manually change filaments on different layers to achieve a multicolor print.
This can be printed vertically, although I suggest printing it laying down and using the support painter in your slicer tool to remove supports from everywhere but the top of the tag. I've included pictures of what this support painting looks like. In my experience this is the best compromise between quality/strength/ease of removing supports.
This is my first published CAD project, so there is likely still room for improvement. I plan on also publishing the core of the ornament as well to allow for remixes of the design.
Happy holidays and happy printing!
