Update

I've added a second file that includes a loop to hang the Pi Divider on a hook for storage. You'll probably only want one loop, so print one of each.

Note that the original update placed the loop on the inside of the tool. This is still usable but is not ideal. The files have now been updated so that when the tool is in the open position, the loop is on the outside.

Original Summary

What Is It?
This is a tool for correctly sizing a glass collar to roll up a cane mat in glassblowing. It opens and closes like scissors, and the lengths are sized so that the larger opening is always pi times larger than the smaller opening. This means that when you lay out your cane and open the long, straight side to the width of the cane, the smaller curved ends are the perfect collar diameter. The plastic will melt if it comes near the hot glass of course, so use this tool to set the right width on your metal calipers once you've laid out your cane.

Chances are if you're searching for a pi divider, you already knew all that. If you didn't, search for 'glassblowing reticello' videos and you'll see why this is useful.

Assembly
You'll need a short screw and matching nut to join the two pieces together. I like to use an additional nut to lock the first in place. Tighten the first nut so that the Pi Divider has some resistance to movement but can still open and close. Then, holding the first nut, tighten a second down hard against the first (careful not to overtighten and squeeze the plastic parts!). This locks the first nut in place and leaves you with a moveable Pi Divider that won't easily lose its position.
