The file 'Periodic Table Hotell Model 3D Printer Model' is (scad, stl) file type, size is 93.8KB.
The design was developed as a hands-on model to show the "auf-bau" (building) principle for atoms. The idea behind this was that pupils should be able to understand how the periodic system is constructed from basic principles with electrons. The electrons in this model have spin, as indicated by the arrows, and you could place 2 in each (sub-)orbital.
By chance, it turned out that advanced students may also use the model to derive the fine structure terms in courses on Atomic physics
The model was used in an educational project at NTNU, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, in 2022. More information on this project can be requested by the designer.
