Summary

Use this printed bottle connector to connect two bottles mouth-to-mouth. Thread is universal so should work for both plastic soft-drink bottles and screw-cap wine bottles.

Instructions:

  1. Cut the top bottle in half and fill with seedling soil or hydroponic medium like clay pebbles. Don't discard the other part off the bottle.

  2. Plant the seeds and moisten the soil/medium.

  3. Fill the bottom bottle with water and connect the two bottles using the connecter.

  4. Use remaining half of the cut top bottle to cover seedlings. This will retain the moisture and create a nice humid seedling-friendly environment. Remember to make some holes for air.

  5. Place in sunny area like a windowsill that gets full morning sun.

Tips:

Use the plastic liner from the original cap of one of the bottles to make a water tight seal between the two bottles. Cut a hole in the middle of the liner to allow water to flow between the two bottles. I also preferred to use a wine bottle for the bottom bottle, the extra weight of the glass makes the setup more stable. I also find placing a irregular shaped stone or clay pebble in the neck of the top bottle when using soil will help prevent losing soil into the bottom bottle.
