This is a parametric filament spool hub with 608ZZ bearing which easily slides in and out of an 8mm aluminum tube, or smooth or threaded steel rod, as it does not require a nut. As long as it is correctly dimensioned, it just snaps in place in the center of your filament spool. The 608ZZ bearing guarantees a totally frictionless operation.
This is my own design, remixed from thing #545954 by mateddy (James Lee), redesigned from thing #27139 by QuantumConcepts (Josh McCullough) and also inspired by a brilliant design by labidus (Sylvain Rochette), thing #596838. I tried to combine the best ideas from each design!
OpenSCAD source is available so it can be further remixed.
Update 23/12/2014: reinforced the "petals" and code cleanup.
