Remix of "Restaurant paper dispenser key opener" by pabloflorida
Why have I changed it?
My print from their model failed in a couple of different attempts slicing using Cura and printing on a Creality Ender3:
- with default supports generated by Cura, the supports welded to the waffle/key part
- the join between the waffle/key part and the handle was weak/broke when removing the part from the bed (there was a gap between the handle/key in the model)
- the waffle/key part had a gap down the middle rather than being solid (even at 100% infill)
- without supports (in the original orientation with the key part down) the handle part was unprintable on my FDM printer
What I've changed
In Blender:
- I (rather crudely) closed up the gap between the key and the handle
- stretched the key part to compensate for any loss of length
- turned the model the other way up so that the handle part is at the bottom
I've included the Blender file.
The 3mf project file from Cura and the gcode file generated have reasonably high quality with thickened walls (to try to fill in the gap down the middle of the waffle/key part), slightly thickened top for strength at the join and 30% infill.
Result
Print took ~1hr on an Ender3.
The result seems strong with a reasonable finish, but:
- the gap down the middle of the waffle/key part is still there
- the handle needed rounding off manually where it was joined to the bed adhesion/support
