Summary

This is a working thing just no image of it irl yet.

It is a drop in replacement of the hard drive caddy/bay for a Panasonic tough book cf-53 laptop. it requires the original ribbon cable that inside of the oem hard drive caddy/bay.

Published model here you can use glue or pieces of anti static foam to help position and hold the ribbon cable in place.. For the most part tho this thing will match all of the most important features of the oem caddy.

Will upload pics soon of the printed model.

just a few notes here for anyone who would like to polish this file more.

  • Included is the freecad file of the design

  • one of the small triangle like locking pinions on the side of the caddy is a few MM off this causes it to snap off quickly however the other pinions is on point and all that is needed to make this drive "click" right into place like the oem and it holds it well. so i published it anyways.

  • the caddy will for most part sit flush with the laptop bottom like the oem however i ran into issues with the freecad design doing some weird shit when editing and the slanted side of the caddy may be a bit above the desired "flush" position. idk the best route to fix except for complete redesign and i dont have time for it so i published anyways so others can at least use it CAUSE THIS IS A FUNCTIONAL THING used a few of them already on everyday carries and they stay snug in laptop bottom as intended.
