Summary

This is a simple outdoor weather station for a wireless ESP8266 controller. It is designed for a solar panel on top that charges a 18650 lithium battery. I don't have a solar panel yet, so it just runs on the battery as such.

This build includes the following parts/sensors:

  • ESP8266 - Wemos D1 Mini
  • BMP180 pressure sensor
  • DHT22 humidity sensor
  • BH1750 illuminance sensor (GY-30 breakout)

The ESP controller runs MicroPython and sends it data to a MQTT broker. For data display I use Home Assistant running on a Raspberry Pi. As soon as I get the sources cleaned up I will post it here with further instructions.
