Implemented by me in OpenSCAD, with additions to be mounted on a 14mm x 14mm criss section metal upright of my balcony. Since it clips on with a friction fit, it will be easy to bring it inside to change the battery in a few years.
I have an East facing mount, so you can see the temperature shooting up as the sun rises, then falling a bit as the motion of the sun has the house shade the thermometer, then a smooth decline starting at sunset.
