Summary

Model rocket parts from Estes, re-scaled to metric so they just work in most slicer software. These are parts from the Estes 'bulk' pack:

These are designed to work with a BT-20 body tube. I highly recommend buying paper body tubes rather than 3D printing them, since a printed body tube adds a lot of weight.

For a complete rocket build you will need:

  • Nose cone
  • Nose cone 'pin' (cap for nose cone)
  • Fin unit of your choice
  • Launch lug ring
  • Standard engine mount ring
  • 9" BT-20 tube (standard tube is 18", so you can make 2 rockets from one tube)
  • Engine retaining hook (I make my own from thick paper clips)
  • Recovery system of your choice.

For this size rocket, I like to use a streamer, 1" wide by 2 foot long. Mylar gift wrap works great, light and helps make to easy to find the rocket.

Try an A8-3 for first flight, B6-4 for second flight.
