UPDATE 20.2.2017:
PLEASE USE THE NEW IMPROVED VERSION!

This is an extremely simple, yet very efficient adapter for filament spools which I made for the spool holder that came with my Anet A8. It will move very smoothly with just the M8 rod that the holder came with, no bearings necessary. It will work on any spool holer using an M8 rod.
I used all the inner spool diameters that I have stumbled across so far for this adapter, so it should fit quite a few different brands of filament spools.
Print two of these adapters and install them on the M8 rod that came with your spool holder. The minimum you need is two M8 nuts, one on each outer side of the adapter with the filament spool inbetween the two adapters. But I recommend you add two lock nuts to one end of the rod with a little space inbetween as a guide to keep the rod from drifting towards either side (see photo). And if you use a winged or knurled nut on the opposite side (not visible in the picture), changing spools will be much quicker, but a regular nut will work just as well.
