After the purchase of a Player One OAG, I realized that my regular ASI174MM wasn't able to reach focus. The new OAG require mini version to reach focus. I decided to design a very low profile helical focuser to avoid to cost of a new guiding camera. To use this focuser you'll need to cut the 1.25" adapter in half and use a M48 to M42 ring (or the M42 ring that is found on a camera T-Ring) to have a close coupling with the camera (the M42 that comes stock with the camera is too thick).
To protect the focusing threads, I cutted a small rubber puck and inserted it into the locking hole. This is not only protecting the threads, but also act as a firm stopper that requires only gentle finger pressure to lock the focuser in place. I've used threaded inserts (M3) on the focuser rotating knob. The base can use a 1/4-20 bolt to lock the focuser (I've used a dovetail stopper bolt).
The focuser is 17.5mm shorter than the original helical focuser that comes with the OAG.You'll be able to use your non mini ZWO camera with an OAG.
