This is a hanging Nyger (or Niger) bird seed feeder. What is Nyger seed ?

Finches love it. Just hang it on a piece of string, fill it with Nyger seed, and the birds will grab onto it with their talons and feast away. The lid keeps the seed dry by shedding water and slides up and down the hanging string so it won't get lost.
