some say, hexagons are the bestagons. I think not. in fact, isometric grids are the bestagons.
here we have a coaster modeled after the Equilateral Space Isogrid. while it may not be used on a spacecraft here, it still provides rigidity and a low surface area for your favorite beverage to be placed on. this reduces the thermal transfer of the fluid contained in your drinking apparatus which would otherwise dissipate into the larger thermal mass of the platform in which the container is placed. The deep wells of this isogrid coaster also provides a place for condensation to well up and evaporate.
the isolated surfaces are raised randomly at different heights, giving the discerning coaster aficionado an extra bit of detail to appreciate.
if you like my designs and would like to support me, check out my page at Buy Me a Coffee. all proceeds will go to more filament, a coffee, or one day... my dream car! https://www.buymeacoffee.com/dylanbeaudy
more filament means more prototypes and making sure my designs are easy to print, as well as being able to make things more often.
scale this to whatever size you wish. base is about 75mm. image is 90mm. print with 100% infill and the highest quality you can, smaller layers means better overhangs.one in image done at 0.08mm layer height at 450mm/s. took 1hr 53m.
