This socket, along with the original Nanoleaf Wire Connector, can be used to place the controller without sacrificing an edge of the lighting. This means you could recess or frame the lights without a bulge for the controller.
After reading about a Nanoleaf Aurora Icosahedron, finding some printable corners that could be used to build one, and remixing those to print more easily, there were still problems with creating a full icosahedron.
The original article only uses 18 of the 20 sides, because it sits on a desk and one additional side is "taken up" by the controller. But I wanted to hang a complete icosahedron. This connector let me put the controller inside so all 20 sides can be light panels.
NOTE: The images and early tests are performed with telephone wire, which is not rated for this use. The holes are capable of handling larger gauge wire, and stranded, not solid, should be used. I switched to LED light strip wires for the final implementation. I'm not an electrician. Don't set your lights or your house on fire.
