Not quite done with the Multi-Layered Joysticks yet, here is The Multi-Layered Arcade Joystick - Black Gold edition with a choice of 10 or 8 button layouts.
The buttons and joystick included with this design can also be found as part of my Arcade push button collection and my Arcade joystick mechanism (V3).
Print the bolts on their heads and if the balltop gives you issues, stick it on a raft or use a brim.
As a joystick encoder I utilise a RP2040 and drag & drop some files onto it ( https://github.com/OpenStickCommunity/GP2040-CE ). They are tiny boards that are easy to tuck in somewhere.
