If you want just one column, use his, it's easier for that.
However, I recently got the Star Realms Frontiers kickstarter, and when I customized a box for it, it came out far larger than my printer could hope to print. Solution, I needed more coulmns!
Turns out I pretty much took his code and rewrote 60% of it to handle columns, but it was a great starting point.
This allows you to make multiple columns of various sizes to hold your cards/game bits/whatever. In my case, I made 3 columns, one for the game + expansions, one for the player decks and command decks, and a third long thin one to hold the rulebook and the new boss cards. In my case, it's printed so the cards stand vertically.
The customizer is pretty smart, and will adapt to various settings. For example, if one column is longer than the other, it fills the extra space in by increasing the divider thickness. You can always go back in and add another space for cards to maybe leave room for expansions or use less plastic up.
