Summary

This is a variant of robertferanec's magic wand, tweaked to better suit the internals from Patrick_Mahoney's build, which he details in this doc.

I liked the look and threaded construction of Robert's design but intended to build multiple wands for younger kids, so I wanted to keep the circuitry very simple and Patrick's instructions fit the bill.

The specific changes made to the STLs are:

  • Handle modified to comfortably fit 2 AAA batteries with a spot for a spring contact plate to be glued in at the top.
  • Bottom modified to flatten the base (for easier printing) and remove the hole for the switch. Threading is unchanged so you could easily swap back in Robert's original
  • Top and tip merged into a single piece, which fit the LEDs and wire I was working with better.

I left the middle section unchanged, even though I had no specific use of the cutouts inside it.

Thanks to the original two creators for providing the pieces for such a fun project!
