Summary

This is a slightly improved design I made for my Moon's Surface book nook pictured, it uses fiber optics to move the light from some bright white pre wired flickering LEDs that are in the base into some laser cut perspex that has star configurations from the northern hemisphere.

Things I used,

  • Around 30 meters of 0.75mm fiber optic cable,
  • 6 pre wired 12v flickering 3mm bright white leds, i had these on hand but 5mm would be better.
  • a usb to 12v cable/converter, its got the boost circuit built into the usb connector.
  • 3mm black acrylic the design fits on 2 a 4 sheets
  • 3mm plywood for the outside this needed 3 or 4 sheets
  • this design will need some m3 or m4 screws
  • semi flexible glue for connecting the fiber optics,
  • heatshrink to connect the leds to the fiber optics
  • electrical tape for the led connections
  • k40 laser cutter
  • i3 clone 3d printer
  • elegoo mars pro- not needed but i used it for the frame because it was new
