Summary

Welcome to MONSTROUS MAYHEM, a 3D printable boardgame where freakish fighters duke it out in the ring!

This game is designed to print-and-play with ease. Each monster comes with their own stat card and a handful of health tokens, and all you'll need is the ring (or any 3x3 tile) and a couple of red and blue dice (one set per player, red for Offense, blue for Defense).

NOTE- This is essentially the beta version of the game. We'd love to get some help/input from all you fine people as we streamline the game and add new pieces. We'll be doing a Kickstarter campaign soon to get some sets produced, but we'll be sure and keep the designs open source as we go.

-----THE RULES------------------------------------

Set up: Each player chooses a monster and takes a number of Health Tokens equal to their monster's Health (the heart) value, then place their monsters in opposing corners of the ring facing whichever way they choose, then each player rolls a die to determine who will take the first turn...

Playing the game: Starting with the first player, players alternate taking turns. Each turn, a player may move their monster, then both monsters roll to fight.

(MOVEMENT): During their turn, a monster may move a number of times equal to their movement value (the arrow). Each movement may either move the monster one tile forward (in the direction of the arrow/the front facing on their base) or turn once to the right or left to change their facing. A monster may not move through other monsters. Moving outside of the ring for any reason causes a monster to lose one Health Token (see below), end their movement (if it was in progress), and they are then put in any tile of the opposing player's choice facing a direction that player chooses as well.

(FIGHTING) After a monster has moved, both players roll their red (Offense) and blue (Defense) dice and consult the charts on their card to determine effects. First, add up the total DAM (damage) and DEF (defense) values. If a monster is facing another monster in an adjacent space (the arrow on the base determines frontward facing), you may compare their DAM against the enemy monster's DEF and, for each point the DAM exceeds their DEF, remove one Health Token from that monster. If a monster is facing an enemy's side, it gets +1 DAM against that enemy. If facing their back, it gets +2 DAM. Any monster occupying the diamond (center space) may grant a +1 bonus to either DAM or DEF (their choice after rolls are made). DAM marked with an "(R) is "ranged" and can effect the closest target in the direction of the monster's front facing regardless of distance. If at any point a monster loses all their Health Tokens, they are out of the match and the remaining monster is the winner. After damage has been applied, apply any additional effects from the table results. If a special effect is listed first, resolve that before resolving DAM/DEF. Special effects can be forced movement, changes to health, et cetera. Any additional effects that affect the enemy must follow a successful attack (one that caused the enemy to lose 1 or more Health Token).

We've set up a Patreon page for anyone who's interested in helping to fund us so we can keep making free and open sourced games like Pocket-Tactics, Wayfarer Tactics. and others, not to mention the growing catalog of gaming miniatures that you can use for whatever you want! (Psst... we take requests and commissions...)

Enjoy!
