Summary

Here's a complete replacement carriage to mount a standard E3Dv6 or clone on to a Monoprice Select Mini.

This is a remix of my other carriage designed for the volcano hot end here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2821010

This part features:

  • Integrated 40mm fan shroud -- provides cooling for the heat sink and also has ducts to cool the print. It's all one unit, so it's very solid and consistent.

  • Integrated belt mounting notch -- doesn't require any extra pieces or hardware.

  • Little to no offset from the factory nozzle position -- doesn't require a z-spacer, and the zero position on the Y axis won't put the nozzle off the front of the print bed.

  • Super easy printing. You should be able to print this without supports, all in one print. (See example print-bed layout in the photos.)

  • 3 piece design, so you can print them in different materials if you want. For example, you could print the carriage in PLA, and print the pieces that contact the E3Dv6 in PETG. I printed everything in PLA and I haven't seen any issues.

In order to use this, you will need:

  1. E3Dv6 (or clone)

  2. 40mm fan. For mounting the fan, clearance for screws is a bit tight -- I use zip ties, which work great.

  3. Some sort of hardware to hold it together. #6-32 x 2" screws fit best. If you want to use metric, M3 x 50mm screws also fit. (you'll need screws at least ~40mm long) M4 screws might also work, but you'll probably have to thread them into the plastic. I have done a few prints with only zip ties (very tight zip ties) holding the whole thing together, and it actually worked just fine that way too.

Also you'll need to reuse the linear bearings out of your current carriage. If they're tight, which they should be, don't hammer them in, press them in. A vise or a clamp will make this easy.
