I designed a monitor stand with 3D-printed leg supports made in Shapr3D. The legs are 3 inches tall with two screw mounts each, keeping everything sturdy and at a good viewing height. Simple, but it does the job perfectly.
Just print two sets of legs, grab a plank of wood and you are good to go!
I would recommend a wood plank at least 8in wide to support more monitors.
