The file 'Modular Mounting System Airplane Seat Connector 3D Printer Model' is (stl) file type, size is 197.5KB.
I made these clips to attach the modular mounting system (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2194278) to the back of an airplane seat. The entire project took about six months as each test of the design required I take a trip. And not all trips provided the access to seat configuration I was working on. But over time I refined the design and feel comfortable publishing the results.
The connectors are primarily designed for United Airlines. but the tray table clip will work with most other carriers. If you are flying United, print all four clips. Otherwise, print the two tray table clips.
United has two primary configurations for coach class service in the US, with the TV in the seat back, or a magazine rack in place of the TV. See the included photographs.
Use the clip "Airplane Clip - Top with TV" to attach the back of the seat with a TV, and "Airplane Clip - No TV" to attach to the magazine rack. I have also included two different tray table sizes. Apparently the tray tables are all not the same size (who knew?). The 25mm size is on the United tray tables without a TV and the 20mm tray tables are with a TV.
For carriers other than United, I find the 20mm tray table clip most common but bring the 25mm clip as a backup. The tray table clips may be used tray up or down.
Please send me feedback on how the design can be improved and accomidate other airlines.
I uploaded the wrong STL for the Airplane Clip - No TV. The correct file has been uploaded. Sorry to the 350+ people who already downloaded the file.
