The file 'Modular Hexagonal Dovetail Display Box Compatible With LEGO® Minifigures 3D Printer Model' is (stl) file type, size is 2.3MB.
Hexagonal dovetail box!!! Compatible with LEGO® minifigs. Based on AJsRaceway's TOTALLY AWESOME Modular Hexagonal Display!! https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3338499 (officially endorsed by AJsRaceway).
I must admit I made my own dovetail square box and THEN saw the hexagonal design and became mildly obsessed with the hexagon. SUCH a great idea!! I'm hoping to make a rainbow so all my little friends can live in Cloud Cuckoo Land.
ANYWAY.
Design: based on AJsRaceway's design but done from scratch for ease of my software. Beefed up a little to make room for the dovetails. Embiggened a little to fit giraffe dude and Merbatman (Batmerman?). They have a hidden nail hole in the back. If it's balanced you can hang a whole wall sculpture on one nail! Mix and match colors, make it wild!
files:
main: use this for most of the boxes
straight slots: fill in the holes since dovetails only slide in one way (this will make sense when you put them together)
no back: self explanatory I hope--use for style points or to cut down on plastic/time
straight slots no back: again fill in the holes with no back!
straight slots rounded: if you're like me and are not great at printing and keep getting a lip on the bottom I rounded the edges more so it slides in better.
Update 9/2/19: Wasn't sure how to arrange this thing so I gave them to my 7yo who made it even more awesome!! She made it look like they're flooooooating through spaaaaaaace. Complete with creepy mirror image Alfred. And look, it hangs perfectly on the wall with one nail even when upside down.
OR hang it at an angle. It all works.
