Of the many cable chains out there I couldn't find one that fit my needs. That is why I have designed this variation that allows for approximately 170 degrees of free movement. Along with this movement you are able to insert the wires AFTER the chain has been assembled.
There are three STL files in the download:
- Cable Chain Link Branded (Allows for full 170 degree movement) - Cable Chain Link_Restricted Movement ( limits the flex to only one direction) - Body Plug (Used to slide into the bottom of the links locking in the wires) - X_Motor Mount Cable_Bracket (Connects the chain to the X motor mount)
It is the printers choice which version of the chain they wish to use.
Details
EACH link extends the length of the chain by 28mm (2.8CM or 1.10236 in)
Inner clearance: 14.5mm wide and 11mm tall
Assembly
Once you have the links printed they will snap into each other by hand. It will be a SNUG fit to get then together but should move freely once popped into place.
Future Development
I am currently working on the brackets for mounting to the X axis carriage and motor mount for the A8.
EDIT 03/03/2017
I have uploaded a bracket for the connection to the X-Motor Mount on the A8. I am still it the process of PRINTING and TESTING this bracket. This means there may be changes done to it. If you are willing/wanting to print this bracket and report back with any issues I would greatly appreciate it.
EDIT 03/04/2017
X-Motor Mount Bracket has been changed again to allow for easier printing and a different sizing. There is an image added as well to demonstrate the suggested printing orientation.
