My take on a chess set, all pieces are 30mm in diameter. Have a recess cut into them to take a 0.5"x1" bolt to glue in for weight and balance.
Supports required. Tho would recommend that you use the support blocker in Cura to keep the supports from building the length of the bolts shaft. That should eliminate some headaches not having to remove the support material from such a small void.
