I designed this rocket in Blender and printed it with a combination of ABS and TPU. I also experimented with HIPS and PP instead of ABS, which would have been preferable. I abandoned those due to bed plate adhesion problems. ASA would work great in place of ABS, too. In fact, I have used it for some of the other rockets I have designed.
It is designed for use with a D-size Estes model rocket engine.
I designed it for use with Estes' "Maxi-Rod," which has a diameter of 5 mm.
You will print a total of nine parts using two different filaments:
Fin and engine assembly x 1
Body Tube x 2
Nose Cone x 1
Couplers x 2
Tether x 1
Tether anchor x 2
I finally got around to flying this rocket, and it was flawless! Couldn't have been happier with it. I flew it on an Estes D12-5 engine in a light breeze.
