The file 'Model Painter Clip 3D Printer Model' is (stl) file type, size is 100.1KB.
Just starting out with painting of model kits and wanted to mimic the aligator+skewer+foam approach for spray painting.
This is my version of an aligator style clip to assist with model painting. Clip strength is firm and feels like a strong pinch on skin (nature's force meter!).
Model clip allows for different style of teeth caps to be added - Tall, Short and Wide.
Model clip can be attached to BBQ style skewer for easy stand-up
Short - Tighter grip in smaller spaces
Tall - Good grip, not so tight
Printed in PLA at both .2mm and 1.mm layer height. No supports required.
Raft only a consideration for the teeth caps, but not essential.
Bridging required for crossing section as there is a 0.4mm gap between middle and top/bottom ledges.Tried other clearances and found 0.4mm gave best clearance without need further cleanup.
Depending on your printer calibration minor clean up may be required. In my case ends of Pinch Clip needed slight shave to remove some ooze. Entry for teeth caps also need clean up.
NOTE : I'd imagine strength and elasticity would be better in ABS. The PLA works good enough but it can lose tightness on repeated pinching, although stretching back can mitigate.
