Model elbow joint to demonstrate how the bicep and triceps muscles work.
Connect bones with a brass fastener. Join holes with elastic thread, rubber band, or ordinary string to simulate the bicep and triceps muscles.
This model was made for use in a 6th grade science unit. I wanted to show how a muscle pulls when it contracts, so muscles work in pairs to bend / unbend the elbow.
You can also show them the real thing by removing the skin from a raw chicken wing (from grocery store). They will be able to see the muscles, and by pulling on them how they move the bones at the joint.
